FABIAN C. VILLACIS, O.D.

WATERBURY, SOUTHBURY & PROSPECT LOCATIONS

Dr. Fabian C. Villacis is a Connecticut native, having completed his Bachelor of Science degree at Quinnipiac University in 2005. He received his Doctorate in Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry in 2011.

His experience includes externships at the Perkins School for the Blind, Worcester VA Hospital in Massachusetts, Aran Eye Associates in Miami, and Dimock Community Health Center in Boston.

In 2012, Dr. Villacis completed an optometric residency in Ocular Disease in the Connecticut Health Care System at the Newington Veteran Affairs Hospital in Newington, CT. Upon completion of the residency, he joined the staff at a multi-specialty ophthalmology firm in New Haven County.

My favorite moment is having the ability to go on mission trips and give back to the community.
Another favorite moment in this profession is becoming an entire family’s eye doctor and providing care to multiple generations of a certain family.

In October 2019, he became owner of New Insight Family EyeCare in Waterbury. He has expanded New Insight Family EyeCare into Prospect, Southbury, and Farmington.

Dr. Villacis specializes in the treatment and management of ocular disease, routine eye exams, standard or complex soft contact lens fits, rigid gas permeable contact lens fits, and scleral lens fits. Dr. Villacis is pleased to accept new patients to our practice.

He is a member in good standing with the American Optometric Association, the Connecticut Association of Optometrists, the National Glaucoma Society, and Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity of Connecticut (VOSH-CT). In June 2019, he performed a mission trip here in the United States, and and in January 2020, he went on his first mission trip to Nicaragua. Since then, he attends the mission trips annually in January to Nicaragua.

Dr. Villacis speaks Spanish fluently, as his family is from Ecuador. In his free time, Dr. Villacis loves to spend time with his wife and their five kids. He also enjoys playing tennis and basketball, and most recently has begun running half marathons.

KELLEE E. ADAMS, O.D.

WATERBURY & PROSPECT LOCATIONS

Dr. Adams received her Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College in Upstate New York and continued her studies at Indiana University School of Optometry, obtaining her Doctorate of Optometry in 2012.

During her time as a professional student, Dr. Adams was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa and Gold Key Optometric Honor Societies. She also served on the board of the Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH), traveling to Guanajuato, Mexico, each year to provide eye care to the underserved. Her externship training included time at the Hudson Valley VA Hospital in Montrose, New York, Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi, and Centro de Rehabilitación in Guanajuato, Mexico. Dr. Adams’ cultural fieldwork and devotion to studying the Spanish language allow her to offer exams in both English and Spanish. At New Insight, Dr. Adams offers comprehensive care to all ages and specializes in myopia management and the non-surgical treatment of amblyopia in the pediatric population.

Dr. Adams is a member in good standing with the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists. Outside of the office, she enjoys spending time with family, including her two children, Ethan and Lena.

I love creating a fun environment for young children by explaining the games we will play and showing them how different parts of the exam are done using their parent or stuffed animal as the patient first. Watching their behavior change as they begin to feel at ease is always rewarding!

Pamela C Malchoff , O.D.

FARMINGTON LOCATION

Dr. Pamela C. Malchoff is excited to join New Insight Family Eye Care in Farmington! She brings with her many years of experience in private practice optometry and strives to provide all patients with the best and most comprehensive health care.

Dr. Malchoff earned her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and Doctorate of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry. She completed clinical rotations at the Veterans Affairs hospitals in West Haven and Newington, Connecticut, which focused on the
diagnosis, management, and treatment of ocular disease.

Dr. Malchoff is an active member of the American Optometric Association and the Connecticut Association of Optometrists.

She looks forward to bringing the highest quality eye health care to the
Farmington River Valley!

SOUTHBURY LOCATION

Dr. Salem received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Montclair State University in New Jersey, where she was raised for most of her life – a true Jersian at heart. She then went on to complete her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2020.
During her time as a student, Dr. Salem was President of the Low Vision Rehabilitation Club, a student intern for VOSH International, and inducted into the Gold Key Optometric Honor Society. During her second year, she was given the opportunity to travel to Jamaica with the Student Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity and provide eyecare to the underprivileged people. Her dream is to be able to embark on a mission trip to her native country of Palestine and dedicate that trip to her beloved grandfather. Dr. Salem’s externship experience includes the Rosenbloom Center on Vision and Aging, Omni Eye Services, and the Newington VA in Connecticut.

In 2021, Dr. Salem completed a residency in Ocular Disease and Low Vision at the New Jersey Veterans Healthcare System, in East Orange NJ. Since completing her residency, Dr. Salem has worked in medical private practices. She specializes in the treatment and management of ocular disease, routine eye examinations, pre/post op care, and dry eye disease.
Dr. Salem is an active member of the American Optometric Association and Connecticut Association of Optometrists. During her free time, she likes to spend time with her husband and family. She loves a good cup of coffee, a new place to explore, and is a skincare enthusiast.
